INDIAN HUMAN RESOURCE CENTER

The Indian Human Resource Center (IHRC) began operating on September 7, 1979 in San Diego, California providing employment and training programs and has since expanded its scope of services to include numerous programs for the benefit of the 46,000 American Indians in San Diego County and the community at large.

Despite advances made by a relatively few Native American Indians, thanks to Indian gaming, the great majority of the 500 tribes across the country suffer from 80% unemployment and its accompanying social problems.

San Diego, with its climate and low unemployment, is a magnet for Indians who are looking to change their lives for the better and often arrive at our center with few resources and local contacts.

IHRC is presently celebrating 25 years of service.
